Every now and then I come across a new material that really impresses me. BruxZir® Solid Zirconia is a monolithic solid zirconia restoration, with no porcelain overlay, that boasts a flexural strength of up to 1,465MPa. It is designed and milled (by Stoneglass Industries) using CAD/CAM technology.
Although it is indicated for crowns, bridges, implants, inlays and onlays, I see BruxZir® as a great alternative to full gold crown (FGC) restorations due to its incredible strength and superior aesthetics. The manufacturer maintains that it is “virtually chip-proof” and that only 0.5mm occlusal reduction is required, although 1.0mm is ideal.

I recently made one that happened to be alongside a FGC (featured image above). As you can see, it may be a good option for patients concerned about having any gold showing.
I am always happy to have a chat!
